In the murky depths of Panama’s Pacific coast, marine biologists witnessed what looks like a scene from “The Walking Dead”: Thousands of crabs marching like a zombie horde.
The team stumbled upon the horror movie moment last April while exploring the aptly named Hannibal Bank Seamount, an underwater mountain home to a plethora of sea life.
At first they examined sea urchins, sponges and black coral from their submarine. But as they descended deeper into the (Click on the title to read the full article).

High doses of cocaine can convince some brain cells to kill themselves, according to a new study. Although the phenomenon has only been recorded in mouse cells, the findings suggest that therapies tailored to disrupt the cell suicide process could potentially prevent or reverse the negative effects of cocaine in human beings.
“We performed ‘autopsies’ to find out how cells die from high doses of cocaine,” said Dr. Solomon Snyder, professor of (Click on the title to read the full article).

Right before watching Captain America: Civil War
Carly Fleischmann has autism and is unable to speak. She also happens to be one helluva an interviewer.
Fleischmann chatted with Hollywood star Channing Tatum in the first episode of “Speechless With Carly Fleischmann,” Fleischmann’s new YouTube series.
From her introduction alone, it’s apparent that Fleischmann, who types with one finger, is going to fulfill her dream of being a talk show host with a disarming sense of humor.
“He has been a stripper, a police officer, a secret agent, a reporter, a boyfriend to many, and soon he will dump his wife to be with me,” she says. “I welcome (Click on the title to read the full article).

Lionsgate has revealed its first real look at the new team of Power Rangers! Fans will notice that the suits provide a more armored look that’s become popular since the advent of the Christopher Nolan practical superhero world. It’s a departure from the traditional appearance of Saban’s ’90s heroes, who exist in many fans’ minds looking something like this: (Click on the title to read the full article)
The events that led teams of helicopter-borne vets to pelt the Swiss countryside with vaccine-impregnated chicken heads began in 1939. Two things were then sweeping through Poland: the Nazis, and an epidemic of rabies carried by red foxes. Every year, the wavefront of disease advanced southward and westward by several dozen kilometers, hitting country after country. In March of 1967, it reached Switzerland.
The epidemic was a huge problem. Rabies is caused by a virus that spreads through the bites of animals and targets the brain. Unless infected people get a (really expensive) vaccine right away, the disease is (click on the title to read the full article).
Crows are smart!
The crow is among the world’s most intelligent animals with a relative brain size equal to that of many non-human primates. Recent research has found that crows are not only capable of using tools but are also capable of making tools. Crows have also demonstrated the ability to recognize facial features and as such can distinguish individual humans. Evidence also suggests that crows are among the few nonhuman animals capable of displacement (communicate about things that are not immediately present, spatially or temporally).
It may be some time before Marvel fans get to see Black Widow star in her own film, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has at least committed to the idea.
In an interview with Deadline on Friday, Feige stressed that a good nine to 10 Marvel films have already been spoken for but that the former S.H.I.E.L.D agent deserves not just her own movie, but an entire franchise behind it. (Click on the title to read the full article).
Democracies end when they are too democratic and right now, America is a breeding ground for tyranny
As this dystopian election campaign has unfolded, my mind keeps being tugged by a passage in Plato’s Republic. It has unsettled — even surprised — me from the moment I first read it in graduate school. The passage is from the part of the dialogue where Socrates and his friends are talking about the nature of different political systems, how they change over time, and how one can slowly evolve into another. And Socrates seemed pretty clear on one sobering point: that “tyranny is probably established out of no other regime than democracy.” What did Plato mean by that? Democracy, for him, I discovered, was a political system of maximal freedom and equality, where every lifestyle is allowed and public offices are filled by a lottery. And the longer a democracy lasted, Plato argued, the more (Click on the title to read the full article).
“Arrow” star Colton Haynes has never publicly addressed his sexuality — until now.
The actor has come out in an interview with Entertainment Weekly and says he is happy.
Haynes became a teen heartthrob with his roles as Jackson Whittemore on MTV’s hit “Teen Wolf” and as Arsenal on The CW’s “Arrow.” But he stepped away and sought help for issues with anxiety.
“I’ve had terminal anxiety my entire life,” he said. “Physically ill, fainting. I’m 27 years old, and I have an ulcer. I had to step back.” (click on the title to read the full article).
