[Shocking] Orlando Gunman's 'Gay lover' Claims Massacre Was Revenge Against HIV-positive Partner

Orlando Gunman's 'Gay lover' Claims Massacre Was Revenge Against HIV-positive Partner

A man who claims he was Orlando gunman Omar Mateen's lover says he carried out the mass murder in revenge after finding out one of his partners was HIV-positive.

In an interview with Spanish-language television network Univision, the man – who was identified only as 'Miguel' – said Mateen was "100% gay" and bore a grudge against Latino men because he felt used by them.

"In my opinion he did it for revenge," Miguel, who was heavily disguised for the interview, said.

Mateen shot dead 49 people at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Florida, on 12 June in America's worst mass shooting.

Miguel said he and Mateen met on a gay dating website and met 15-20 times over the space of two months late last year.

Miguel said Mateen never revealed his name, saying only that he was 35 and married with a son. He said Mateen was "sweet and affectionate" and told him he had been forced into an arranged marriage.

"He adored Latinos, gay Latinos," Miguel said. "But he felt rejected. He felt used by them. There were moments in the Pulse nightclub that made him feel really bad…

"He (Omar) was terrified that he was infected," Miguel said.

When I asked him what he was going to do now his answer was: 'I'm going to make them pay for what they did to me'.

The FBI confirmed to Univision it has met with Miguel.
