A video of Canadian citizen Robert Hall being beh.eaded began to spread like wildfire on social media sites. This was after he was taken hostage by the Abby Sayyaf militants who demanded a ransom worth P300 million. Along with Hall was Norwegian citizen Kjartan Sekkingstad who was also taken hostage last September in Samal Island located in the Southern Philippines.
The total amount of ransom the Abbu Sayyaf militants were demanding amount to one billion pesos ($29.4 million) but was cut to about P300 million.
Information by intelligence reports have revealed that Hall was decapitated after the set deadline by the kidnappers were reached. The incident occurred in the Jolo's Patikul Town mountains.When asked about the hostage-taking incident, president Rodrigo Duterte said "We cannot allow this situation to continue, this should end once and for all!"
