Exclusive - Pinoy Boxer Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes Takes Home The Flyweight Division Belt!


Last Saturday, September 25, Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, the longest-reigning Filipino world champion, defeated the ex-world champion Mexican fighter Edgar Sosa in a successful debut in the flyweight division at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Via unanimous decision, Nietes beat Sosa having 3 120-108 marks on the panel and got the WBO Intercontinental flyweight belt. 

Nietes said after the match, “Hindi ako nagmamadali na i-knockout si Sosa. Nahihintay ako ng timing na itumba siya, pero ang tibay din.”

Nietes now has levelled up his professional record with a 39-1-4, 22 Kos and had the WBO Internaional flyweight title.
“Mate-test ko kung hanggang saan ang lakas ko ditto sa 112 (pounds),” the 34-year-old Pinoy Boxer said. 

Sosa went down to 52-10.
