Exclusive - Senate President Pimentel III: 'No New Reso, No More Matobato'

Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III said that a new resolution is needed before the Senate can look further  at the claims of self-confessed hit man and witness Edgar Matobato.

Pimentel, president of Mr. Duterte’s political party, PDP-Laban, said that he would relay this issue to Sen. Leila De Lima because the Senate committee on justice and human rights had gone “off topic” with regards to Matobato’s testimony pointing out the president's alleged involvement with the Davo Death Squad (DDS). 

The committee on justice and human rights headed by Sen. de Lima is conducting investigations on the recent issues of extrajudicial killings because of the administration's war on the drugs. 

Meanwhile, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV noted that President Duterte’s silence to Matobato’s testimony was “unusual,” saying that the President needs to respond because this is a direct accusation. 

Matobato, 57, testified at the committee hearing held last Sept. 15 claiming that he was part of the DDS in 2014 which killed about 1,000 people.
