Queen Elizabeth Hotel (Canada)
The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Canada, is purportedly haunted by a woman in white. According to unverified reports her ghost wanders the halls and stairs, and she is said to also roam around in guests’ rooms. Some people claim to have been touched and pushed by invisible presences, and to have heard noises including disembodied voices, loud bangs, mysterious knocks, and footsteps. Other paranormal activity, including cold spots and the feeling of being watched, has been reported by staff and guests.
Beechworth Lunatic Asylum (Australia)
Beechworth Lunatic Asylum in Beechworth, Victoria, is reportedly haunted by the ghosts of deceased patients. Open from 1867 to 1995, the asylum has appeared in a number of books, TV shows, and documentaries, including A.C.T. Paranormal. Ghost tours take place each night.
Tuen Mun Road (China)
Tuen Mun Road has the frightening reputation of being haunted. The alarming amount of deaths via car accidents have led locals to believe that ghosts are the culprits. In fact, locals claim that the reason for the accidents has to do with drivers attempting to avoid collisions with ghosts that suddenly materialize on the road. What’s worse is that some drivers have reported losing control of their cars as if someone else was driving. Yikes!
The Castle of Good Hope (South Africa)
Built by the Dutch East India Company between 1666 and 1679, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest existing colonial building in South Africa. It is believed to be the most haunted place in the country and some of the ghosts that “live” there include the ghost of Lady Anne Barnard who was a resident, the ghost of a soldier who hanged himself in the bell tower, and the ghosts of soldiers pacing the battlements.
The Beau-Séjour Palace (Portugal)
The Beau-Séjour Palace in Lisbon is said to be haunted by the Baron of Glória, who lived there in the nineteenth century. Employees working at the palace report moving and disappearing objects and windows opening and closing abruptly. Visitors to the gardens also report hearing nonexistent bells ringing.
The Mohatta Palace (Pakistan)
The Mohatta Palace in Karachi, Pakistan, is said to be haunted by ghosts of the British Raj. Museum guides claim to have seen various objects that have moved from their original place, or shifted about, while guards claim to have “felt” the presence of certain spirits at night.
The Vulcan Hotel (New Zealand)
The Vulcan Hotel, in Saint Bathans, Otago, is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a nineteenth-century prostitute who may have been murdered there and was known as “The Rose.”

This beautiful colonial mansion in Santiago de Querétaro, in Querétaro, Mexico, is said to be haunted by two spirits. The legend takes us back to the seventeenth century when a woman known as “La Zacatecana” ordered her husband’s murder and then executed the killer.
Tambun Inn (Malaysia)
Tambun Inn Hotel is located in Ipoh, Malaysia, and is one of the top tourist destinations in the country. It is also reported to be haunted by many apparitions. Some of these accounts mention lights turning on and off, whispers and eerie cries, as well as a report of an old woman spotted in the vicinity of the inn.
Leap Castle (Ireland)
Leap Castle was built around 1250 CE in Coolderry, County Offaly, Ireland. Throughout its history many people were imprisoned and executed there, and it is supposedly haunted by several spirits. It has been featured on the TV shows Scariest Places on Earth and Most Haunted.
Jeruk Purut Cemetery (Indonesia)
A cemetery in Jakarta is said to be haunted by the ghost of a decapitated pastor, which carries its head with it followed by a large black dog. The story was used as the inspiration for the 2006 film Hantu Jeruk Purut, but of course there’s no testimony proving the story is valid.

According to local legend Elmwood Cemetery in Winnipeg, Canada, is where the ghost of a little boy named Joseph, who died in 1912, plays. Supposedly, he is the reason why an unexplained fog sometimes rolls through the cemetery, making things even creepier.
Château de Brissac (France)
According to legend Jacques de Brézé caught his wife, Charlotte, with another man, and in a fit of rage murdered them. Tourists have spoken of an eerie feeling, slight touches, spectral sightings, and wailing throughout the halls.
Alexander Theatre (Finland)
Alexander Theatre in Helsinki, Finland, is supposedly haunted by the ghost of an officer. The ghost moved to Helsinki as the tiles to build the Alexander Theatre were relocated from Åland. Some have suggested that the officer passed away in the Crimean War and has been there since.
Baron Empain Palace (Egypt)
Tourists have reportedly heard voices throughout the palace late at night. Guards and police have also claimed to see ghosts of former residents wandering around the lawn at midnight.

Frankenstein Castle is a hilltop castle in the Odenwald, overlooking the city of Darmstadt, and allegedly an inspiration for Mary Shelley when she wrote her story. Ghost Hunters International aired an episode about the castle and the hunters testified that they experienced significant paranormal activity while shooting the episode.

The Calling Lake School in Calling Lake, Canada, was an Aboriginal resting place for many centuries. Paranormal activities include shadowy figures, ghostly footsteps, disembodied voices, the feeling of being watched by specters, and a sense of unease.
The Joelma Building (Brazil)
The Joelma Building in São Paulo, Brazil, is allegedly haunted by victims of a fire that started on February 1, 1974, after an air-conditioning unit on the twelfth floor overheated. The Woodford Academy in Woodford, New South Wales, was originally built in 1834 as an inn and later became a private boys school. Multiple accounts of hauntings by boys who died there due to accidents are said to have occurred at the site. Ghost tours have since started taking place there.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a Tudor manor house near the village of Nelson, located just north of the site of the former Llancaiach Colliery in South Wales. These include a specter who appears to be a nineteenth-century housekeeper known as “Mattie,” a young boy who fell to his death from one of the upper rooms, a man usually seen in deep contemplation, and a figure who walks the grounds, but not within the manor. The Ozone Disco Club (Philippines)
On March 18, 1996, a fire at the Ozone Disco Club in Quezon City in the Philippines killed 162 people. It is acknowledged as the worst fire in Philippine history, and among the ten worst nightclub fires in the world. Additionally, people who live near the area claim to hear ghostly disco music in their houses at night and see faint people dancing.
Toftaholm Herrgård Hotel (Sweden)
According to legend a baron who lived there had promised the hand of his daughter to a commoner but instead he gave his daughter to someone richer from a higher social class. On her wedding day the commoner hanged himself from the rafters and his spirit is said to wander Room 324, where he took his life.
Vernescu House (Romania)
In Romania, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, it’s not hard to find places that are considered haunted. One of them is Vernescu’s House, which the locals call the “Cellar of the Devil,” and in which a casino currently operates. It is said that in the past century several players committed suicide there after they lost their entire fortunes playing roulette. Reports indicate three ghosts haunt the house, shaking the furniture, causing air currents, and sometimes even appearing in the halls.
