Exclusive - Amazing News! OFW Boxes Worth P10,000 And Below Are Now Tax-Free!

The government  brings amazing news to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) this upcoming Christmas as padala boxes worth P10,000 and below are officially exempted from taxes starting today. 

From the previous tax-free policy for boxes worth P10 below, the exemption range have surprisingly mounted to up to P10,000.

"Medyo maagang pamasko and I'm sure yung ating mga heroes of this country ay matutuwa dahil magpapadala na sila ng kanilang mga pamasko ng hindi na sila mata-taxan," says Assistant Post Master General of PhilPost Luis Carlos

. 

Legislators are working towards furthering tax exemptions. The supposed Tax and Duty Exemption Policy for Balikbayan OFWs depends upon their length of stay in their respective countries. Workers who have stayed from 6 months to 5 years are exempted in paying taxes for boxes worth up to P150,000 as for those who have stayed from 5 to 10 years, P250,000 while OFWs who've stayed more than 10 years abroad may send balikbayan boxes worth up to P350,000 tax-free.

Despite the policy still in the development stage, many OFWs have already expressed their gratitude and excitement towards the pending imposition of the said policy.

The customs department is also set to impose a no opening policy for the said boxes.
