Exclusive - BORACAY is the World’s Best Island For 2016!

Boracay, the famous white-sand beach and premiere summer hide-out of the Philippines, was named “World’s Best Island for 2016” by an international luxury and lifestyle travel magazine.

In an article written in Condé Nast Traveler, Boracay made it to the top of their 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards, besting other Philippine tourist spots such as Palawan and Cebu. While Palawan topped the 2015 list, it is now in the second spot, with Cebu placing fifth.

The American-based magazine described Boracay as an “itty-bitty island" that is "as close to a tropical idyll as you’ll find in Southeast Asia, with gentle coastlines and transporting sunsets."

The magazine also added that Boracay has a “thriving nightlife scene” which makes it “one of the top tourist spots in the region." 

According to the magazine, what made Boracay stand out among the rest is the island’s “powdery white sand and shallow azure water ideal for swimming and snorkelling."

Alongside Boracay, Palawan also received praises from the international magazine, being dubbed as the home of one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Puerto Prinsesa Subterranean River.

With Boracay and Palawan making it to the top 3, Cebu wasn’t far behind as it was recommended by the magazine, being described as "not as wild as Phuket in Thailand" but it is "more personal, with plenty of up-and-coming restaurants and shopping."

According to reports, Boracay was visited by almost one million tourists during the first half of 2016, an increase of 15% from the previous year
