On Monday, Senator Panfilo Lacson said that President Rodrigo Duterte’s apology to the Jewish community should be his last.

Duterte then found an ally in Sen. Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II. He said that the people were just focusing and giving their attention to the international audience

[I think we are just overreacting and focused too much on international audience.]
“Hintayin natin [Let us wait] how the public statements of the President are translated from the ground,” he said. Honasan has also agreed that the PH should have an independent foreign policy.
