The Philippine National Police have finally taken action against their men who brutally wreaked havoc during the bloody dispersal of a rally held yesterday in front of the US Embassy.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde ordered the administrative relief of Senior Supt. Marcelino Pedrozo, the officer in charge, and eight other Manila Police District officers involved.

Pedrozo was heard by the protesters to be the one who ordered the dispersal, using whatever means they deemed necessary. The allegations were denied by said officer.

The driver of a police vehicle, PO3 Franklin Kho, was among those who were given sanction and is now under the custody of the NCRPO.

He was also put under a psychiatric test.

Albayalde explained that the police force including Kho did not expect the protesters to turn violent.

Kho was then forced to remove the police mobile as it was allegedly being shaken and attacked by the protesters.

In an earlier interview on Unang Balita, NCRPO's Albayalde said that based on initial investigation 22 protesters and 35 police personnel were hurt in the incident.

October 19, Wednesday, hundreds of protesters marched towards the US Embassy and demanded that the presence of American troops be removed, while also backing the call for an independent foreign policy by President Duterte.

Nearing the end of their protest, a police vehicle rammed into the protesters and violently ran over them multiple times.

“Sisiguraduhin natin na mananagot 'yung mga pulis na involved doon kung saan makikita natin na there was excessive use of force,” Albayalde said.
