Exclusive - 'No Garage, No Car Act' Very Soon To Be Implemented!


People who are interested in buying cars should first secure a proper parking area. That is if Bill No. 1165 otherwise known as the "No Garage, No Car Act of 2016" is passed by the Senate.

Senator Joel Villanueva proposed this bill which aims to make sure that all those who will acquire vehicles has the a permanent parking space or facility to avoid improper parking to streets or highways which causes traffics. Purchaser should present proof of permanent parking area with notary public at the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

This is applicable for individuals residing or working within “metropolitan areas such as, but not limited to  Metro Manila, Angeles, Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Naga, and Olongapo.”

Those who will be caught fraudulently-obtained vehicle registration will be revoked. Also, owners will be barred from registering under his name for 3 years and will be fined P50, 000 for every violation committed. 

Likewise, the LTO officer and employee who allows such vehicles to be registered without or with fake documents will be suspended for 3 months without pay.

The bill is intended for those who will purchase vehicles after the bill has been passed but does not affect those before.
