Online news site Rapper is losing followers after launching a series article targeting Duterte supporters on Facebook and accusing them as "bots".
In the article titled "How Facebook Algorithims Impact Democracy", Rappler CEO and senior editor Maria Ressa wrote on how the Philippines' general timeline is affected by the algorithm influenced by Duterte supporters.
She tagged staunch Duterte supporter Mocha Uson as one of the influencers of Facebook, as she creates the trending curve by posting her opinions and urging people to like certain pro-Duterte pages.
In the second piece of the series article, Rappler did an investagive research on selective Facebook accounts and tagged them as "Duterte bots" or fake accounts which automatically posts fake, satire, or propaganda articles.
This caused an uproar starting from Uson herself, urging all Duterte supporters to make a fansign stating they are real and not bots. She also urged everyone to unlike and unfollow Rappler.
As of the press time, Rappler still has 2, 969, 551 likes from 2,975,095 likers.
Rappler has yet to release a statement about this.
