Exclusive - Son Of PNP Chief Bato Is Set To Follow His Father's Footsteps By Becoming A Policeman!

DAVAO CITY – The only son of Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa has set himself to follow his father's career as he took the Cadet Admission Test (CAT) at the Bolton campus of the University of Mindanao.

Rocky dela Rosa who took up Business Administration at Philippine Women's College said that he had a recent realization that his true passion is serving the public by becoming a policeman like his own father.

One of the major factors that built up his decision is the idea that he grew in a family of public servants.

“I wanted [to become a policeman] because I grew up with cops in the family and I knew what they have been through,” Rocky said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News.

When asked if his father pressured him on his decision, Rocky said that his goal of becoming a law enforcer is a result of his love for his family, the PNP and the entire Filipino nation.

Rocky who is the youngest in their family said that it is normal for his father to have critics and haters along the way.

“It's natural to have haters coming if you have a strong will.” the police aspirant said.

He also shared that he looks up to President Duterte more than his father.

Rocky is one of the almost 22,000 aspiring policemen who took the examination today.

The yearly examination is conducted by the Philippine National Police Academy to filter 300 students for their Bachelor of Science in Public Safety program. The accepted students will become members of the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology after they graduated.
