Exclusive - Celia Diaz Laurel, Wife of former VP Doy Laurel, In Favor of Marcos’ Burial

"It is time that we recognize him for what good he has done.” says Celia Diaz Laurel, said concerning former President and Dictator Ferdinand Marcos. 

In a report by GMA-7’s 24 Oras, the wife of the former Vice President Salvador “Doy” Laurel voiced her support for the burial of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. 

“In life, we must not dwell on what wrong a person has done. But maybe what he has done for the country will outweigh what wrong they think he has done," she added.

Celia Diaz Laurel stated that her personal opinions do not reflect those of her family’s. Historically, Doy Laurel was openly critically of the Marcos regime. 

Incidentally, Marcos’ burial at the LNMB happened on the former vice president's birthday on November 18.
