Exclusive - 'I think she is more of the victim'- Sen. Sotto On Dayan’s Wife

After the hearing of the House of the Representatives  last Thursday on the case filed against Sen. Leila De Lima, Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III reacted over the concern expressed by some legislators for De Lima saying the real victim of the seven-year love affair is Ronnie Dayan’s wife, Neneng.

Vice President Lennie Robredo, Sen. Riza Hontiveros and Sen. Grace Poe criticized the congressmen’s dwelling on the details of De Lima and Dayan’s alleged seven-year love affair. They are appealing to the House saying the investigation about the love affair is unnecessary and it does not have something to do with De Lima’s alleged involvement in the New Bilibid Prison Drug Trade. They are also considering it as a form of harassment and a “public lynching in aid of misogyny and sexism.”

However, Sen. Sotto slammed the.public officials for being concerned with De Lima’s privacy but never mentioned anything about Dayan’s wife. Sotto identified her as the real victim of the alleged love affair.

“I am quizzical about why some women legislators are so concerned about the privacy of Sen. Leila De Lima and yet I have not heard them to be concerned about the wife of Dayan. I think she is more of a victim,” he said.

Sotto also pointed out that Dayan’s wife and family are the ones primarily being affected by the investigation.

Sotto is the chairman of the senate’s committee on ethics which will tackle two cases filed against De Lima.

Meanwhile, some of the representatives from the House are also considering filing  an ethics complaint against De Lima for instructing Dayan to ignore House summons.
