Exclusive - Manila Mayor Erap Estrada Orders Resignation Of 690 Manila Traffic Enforcers!


During the launching of “traffic super body” which aims to create long-term solutions for the traffic problem in the city, Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada ordered the resignation of 690 traffic enforcers who have been involved in extortion and other illegal activities.

“Today, I am issuing an order for all traffic enforcers of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) to step down and turn in their resignation letters.

I want all of them out, with no exceptions. Tama na. Sobra na. Palitan na," the Manila Mayor said. While considering the effect of the order in the livelihood of the affected MTPB personnel, the mayor said that he stands by firmly to his statent and said he made the decision for the “greatest good” of his people.

In addition, while the MTPB is undergoing a structural reorganization, the traffic management operations will be handled by 244 members of the Manila Police District (MPD) and barangay volunteers.

The mayor also said that the MTPB personnel who will be affected may re-apply for the same position given that they meet the new standards set by the selection committee Estrada has formed. Estrada is determined to implement stricter rules to address the traffic problem in Manila, the country’s capital.
