Exclusive - Petition To Impeach Ombudsman Morales Filed By A Netizen!

A netizen filed an online petition at Change.org calling to impeach the current Ombudsman of the Philippines, Conchita Claudio Carpio-Morales, due to being selective in investigating charges involving PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Sen. Leila De Lima.

The petition followed the Ombudsman’s decision not to probe Sen. De Lima’s involvement in the New Bilibid Prison drug trade during her term as the Department of Justice Secretary, instead deciding to launch an investigation regarding PNP Chief Dela Rosa’s all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas to watch Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s fight against American boxer Jessie Vargas.

The Ombudsman previously told reporters that her office will not conduct investigation on De Lima’s drug trade involvement as they are all accusations without legal basis.

“Because lahat naman allegations itong mga ito. Wala pa namang lead talaga that would prompt us to initiate our investigation,” Morales said.

Bernie Cadao of Dasmarinas City, Philippines, filed the petition and concluded that Morales is being selective when it comes to handling cases such as the PDAF Scam, the Yolanda funds and the SAF44 incidence.

The petition has so far received over 800 signees.
