Exclusive - WATCH: Enrile Defends Marcos’ Hero’s Burial; Slams Opposing Remarks!

Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile defended the decision to have a hero’s burial for former-President and Dictator Ferdinand Marcos during a press briefing at the Manila Hotel.

When the media asked if Marcos should be liable for the numerous human rights violations during his term, Enrile answered that cases should be filed so that investigations will happen, as it is the only way everybody will identify who the real persons behind these human rights violations were.

The former Minister of Defense during the Marcos administration claimed that it was President Marcos’ right to be buried at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani as a former national leader and a former soldier who served the country.

He also claimed that his withdrawal of support for Marcos during a crucial moment in 1986 should not affect his stance regarding Marcos’ hero’s burial.

He also added that Marcos’ Medal of Honor is enough proof that he is entitled to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

However, he said that if there is speculation that these medals were fake, proof should be presented to be examined, but otherwise, these medals will remain presumed to be genuine.
