Exclusive - 15-Year-Old Jeepneys Being Phased Out By LTFRB

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has confirmed  plans of upgrading old Jeepneys in an effort to give commuters a better experience on the road. According to the LTFRB chairman, Martin Delgra, phasing out Jeeps 15 years old or older is all part of the modernization scheme of public vehicles.

Delgra also added that they will be helping drivers secure loans for their upgraded vehicles: “Handa naman kaming tulungan sila hanggat makakaya namin upang hindi naman maapektuhan ng matindi ang kanilang kabuhayan.”

He was also quick to clarify that they will not just be replacing the vehicles, they will also implement new strategic routes to better serve commuters and hopefully, lessen traffic.
