A Facebook user sent a message to tahonews.com informing its admin that Kris Aquino allegedly failed the audition as Steve Harvey's co-host for Miss Universe 2016, which will be held on January 30, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) confirmed that Steve Harvey will be the master of ceremonies for the event, however his female counterpart has yet to be revealed.
"Definite na si Steve Harvey will be the host. We're looking for babaeng counterpart niya. Mayroon na kaming napili. Ayaw pa lang sabihin kung sino." DOT Secretary Wanda Corazon Tulfo-Teo announced on December 11 through DZMM radio.
After the news broke, a netizen who claimed to be a close friend of one of the Miss Universe Organization’s personnel told the news site that Kris Aquino did not pass the auditions as Harvey’s female co-host conducted by the organization.
However, there is still no confirmation regarding the legitimacy of the allegations.
Meanwhile, DOT Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte will have a major role in the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
Steve Harvey is known for his epic fail announcement of the Miss Universe 2015 winner, when he mistakenly announced the winner as Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez instead of the real winner Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.
