Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao together with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and several Cabinet members will be joining President Rodrigo Duterte on his visit to Cambodia from Tuesday to wednesday.
Reports according to The Cambodia Daily, the country and its people are big fans of Pacquiao and revealed that they made preparations for his arrival.
Secretary general of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Vath Chamroeun shared that most Cambodians are “fans and supporters of Pacquiao" and they are thrilled with the news.
“The presence of Pacquiao in Cambodia will be a huge encouragement to our athletes, because although he is of small stature he became a legendary boxer. He was born in a poor family but strove very hard and achieved huge success,” Chamroeun told The Phnom Penh Post.
The senator is set to meet Cambodian athletes depending on his schedules.
Even Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Christopher Montero complimented Pacquiao by referring to him as the perfect example of an Asian “making it to the international scene.”
Meanwhile, the President will be visiting both Cambodia’s prime minister and King Norodom Sihamoni during his short trip to discuss matters such as the South China Sea dispute as Cambodia is known to be China's ally.
