Exclusive - A LIVING MEMENTO: This 391-Year-Old Bonsai Tree Survived the Hiroshima Bombing!

Near the end of World War II, the United States of America dropped atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, levelling entire buildings and ending countless lives.
Despite the enormous loss of life caused by the bombings, this Bonsai Tree survived. It was planted in the year 1625 and is now 391 years old and counting!
It was owned by the Yamaki family. When the bombs were dropped in Hiroshima in the year 1945, the bonsai and the family miraculously survived the blast which claimed around 140,000 lives. In the year 1976, the bonsai master, Masaru Yamaki, gave it to the United States. It now stands at the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C.
The arboretum staff were clueless about its history and only took it as symbol of friendship of the two nations. But when the Yamaki's grandsons visited the museum in the year 2001, it was revealed that the bonsai survived many tragedies and is a living reminder of what has happened in the past.
