Exclusive - Makati Police Officer Kidnaps An OFW And Extorts Php 500,000!

A police officer from Makati Police Station attempted to kidnap and extort half a million pesos from an OFW, ABS-CBN News reports.

The victim’s wife, Anna, sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation after receiving a phone call from her husband Ronnie, saying he was arrested by a Makati police officer on Thursday morning. Anna said the police officer threatened to plant illegal drugs and a gun in Ronnie's possession if they refused to cooperate.

"Makipagcooperate ako. Bigay ko na 'yung P500 thousand para tapos na, walang kasi 'yung asawa ko. Kung hindi 'yun nga, makukulong asawa ko, non-bailable" Anna narrated.

The NBI originally planned an entrapment operation but a police officer from the Special Operations Group suggested that the operation be done inside Makati Police station. In order to pull this off, they have to coordinate with SPD District Director C/Supt. Ramon Apolinario to confront the Makati police officer involved.

"Sa initial check ng mga documents muka naman in order but still syempre titignan kung there's a violation or irregularity in the performance of duty." C/Supt. Apolinario said.

Ronnie confirmed the report of his wife. According to Anna, the Makati Police Station is denying the arrest of her husband due to illegal possession of firearms. Ronnie then denied having a gun and said that they are just OFW's on Christmas vacation. They never expected this would happen to them.

Meanwhile, the NBI recorded all the text messages and phone calls sent by the crooked police officer to Anna. They are currently investigating if there was proper legal basis for Ronnie's arrest and if it was appropriate. They are also investigating if there are other police officers involved in the attempted kidnapping and extortion.
