She may not have won the crown but she won the hearts of the Filipinos like a true Miss World.
Filipinos were in awe of Catriona Gray's beauty and intelligence in the pageant's question and answers portion. When she made it to the top 5, she was asked by former Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna of Spain: "Which qualities do you think it will take to wear my crown?"
Catriona answered:
"I think first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss World is to carry a burning torch. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lives of many. And I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts, and my voice to trying to uplift, empower, and educate people. And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so that all the world could feel and see its light."
Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie del Valle won the crown with Dominican Republic's Yaritza Miguelina Reyes as second and Indonesia's Natasha Mannuela as third.
Catriona also won the Multimedia pre-pageant challenge that locked her in the top 20.
