Exclusive - NBI Got Their Biggest Drug Bust This Month! Is This A Positive Turn In The Drug War? Sec Aguirre Says: 'Malamang Nanalo Na Kami!'


The NBI closes the last month of the year confiscating a total of P6 billion worth of shabu in a series of raids. According to Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, this might have been their "biggest drug bust" in history. 

"I would like to tell you about the biggest drug bust conducted by the NBI in three successive incidents beginning December 1, 23 and yesterday, December 26," he said in a press conference.

"We have verified with the PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency), it is not only the biggest haul this year, but the biggest so far in history," he added. 

The shabu were presented packed in one kilogram bags which can cost up to P10 million. They also arrested 10 individuals who contributed to the amount of shabu confiscated. They were aliased as 'Red Dragons' and the suspects were also presented in the press conference. 

Commander of NBI Task Force Against Illegal Drugs, Assistant Regional Director Roel Bolivar, said that they received the information last September and 4 of them were arrested between December 1 and 2. They were Ansary Candotan, Jimefe Candotan, Saadoding Monib and Abubakr Mamarinta. Three other Chinese nationals and three Filipinos got arrested in separate drug raids last December 23. They will all be charged with violation of Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"Malamang nananalo na kami,"Aguirre said noting that they are slowly winning the admin's war against drugs.
