Exclusive - Probinsayo Star Coco Martin Helps Stranded OFWs To Reunite With Family As A Christmas Gift

A Filipino will sacrifice everything he or she has just to save the family from poverty. This includes sacrificing time with them by being an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), like Ferdinand Acapulco and thousands of other Filipinos.

Acapulco, a Laguna-native, went to Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia to try his luck as he promised that he would earn enough money to make sure that his four kids would have the education they need.

The promise got into the rocks when the company that he was working for unfortunately collapsed. This left him with nothing but the risk of starvation and loss of hope.

He was stranded in Saudi Arabia, scavenging garbage for food.

As Christmas approaches, all he was asking is just a plane ticket way back home to be with his family again.

"Minsan kasi nahihirapan na sila, kakahintay sa akin," Acapulco said. "Nagsasabi nga sila sa akin na, 'Tay, titigil na ako sa pagaaral.' Sabi ko naman sa kanila, 'Huwag muna. Baka sakaling makauwi tayo."

As part of their Christmas Campaign, ABS-CBN, and The Filipino Channel helped Acapulco to get his wish this Christmas.

He was also helped by the Filipino's current primetime king Coco Martin, star of "Ang Probinsyano".

Martin said, "Ang hangarin ko po sana ngayong Kapaskuhan, kahit isang Pilipino, makatulong po ako at makapagpaligaya po ako ng isang pamilya."

Acapulco could not resist his overflowing emotion after he learned his great luck.

"Ito ang pinakamasayang Pasko ko," Acapulco said.
