Solicitor General Jose Calida declared that the Public Enemy Number. 1 of the Philippines is Senator Leila De Lima.
"[Illegal] drugs is our enemy. And who is espousing the proliferation of drugs? Wasn't it former SOJ De Lima? And therefore she is Public Enemy Number 1," Calida said.
Calida also said, "I am invoking the power of the Solicitor General as tribune of the people. In order to strengthen their resolve, I will lend the prestige and gravitas of my office to help them in their cases."
The President can authorize the Solicitor General to represent a government owned or controlled operations. The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) represents the government in different cases but Calida claims that they can assist complainant cases that are against De Lima.
Senator Leila De Lima denies the allegations of receiving drug money from drug lords at New Bilibid Prison. However, she is now facing different complaints at the Office of the Ombudsman and at the Department of Justice.
On the other hand, De Lima gave her statement with regards to what Calida told her.
"I'd rather not dignify such [sic] yet another of lunacy on the part of those evil forces. They're as unhinged as their principal (President Duterte)," De Lima said.
The Department of Justice held a second hearing on the preliminary investigation regarding the senator's case. However, De Lima is on an official trip to Germany and the United States and is expected to be back on Thursday.
