Exclusive - Have Insomnia? This Life Hack Will Teach You How to Fall Asleep in 60 Seconds!

Ever felt the huge burden of having insomnia

Difficulty falling asleep seems to be a problem that many suffer from nowadays. Coupled with stress and late-night work, the quality of our rest is often compromised.

Lack of proper rest brings various medical problems, namely obesity, diabetes and even heart disease – possibly shortening one's life expectancy.

This problem is often dealt with through various methods. Some resort to drinking milk, others resort to doing senseless things in order to shut the brain off.

If these methods didn’t work out for you, scientist Andrew Weil – founder of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the Arizona State University – suggests a method that can get even most insomniacs to fall sleep in just 60 seconds.

The amazing life hack doesn't involve drugs or fixed lighting – it is a simple breathing exercise.

The ‘4-7-8 breathing technique’ is described as a "natural tranquilizer for the nervous system" that is believed to reduce body tension.

How? Start by breathing through the nose for 4 seconds. Next, hold your breath for 7 seconds before exhaling at the count of eight. Repeat these steps around 2-4 times.

"This comes from yoga breathing techniques where you keep the tip of the tongue behind the upper front teeth," Weil shared.

"You breathe in through your nose quietly and blow air out forcefully through your mouth, making a whoosh sound," he added.

"It takes about 30 seconds, so there’s no excuse for not doing it, and it produces a pleasant altered state of consciousness. You may not get that the first time you do it but it’s one of the benefits of practicing."

The doctor further suggested practicing the method at least twice a day for up to eight weeks.
