Despite half-a-year of controversies and criticism, President Rodrigo Duterte stands firm behind his all-out war against illegal drugs. According to him, "big-time" shabu dealers and mayors do not have a place under his administration. He defended his anti-drug war anew as he gave his speech during the mass oath-taking of new appointees in the government.
"Huwag na tayong magbolohan. For as long as I am president, itong malalaking shabu dealers, mamamatay talaga ito," he said.
Furthermore, he reiterated that mayors who tolerate or are involved in the illegal drug trade, should take caution as they will suffer the same fate.
"Sabihin ko talaga sa kanila (mayors), 'Ganoon kakapal ‘yung ipinakita ko sa inyo eh. Hanapin mo ‘yung pangalan mo diyan, mayor. T*** i** ‘pag nandiyan ‘yung pangalan mo, may problem ka'. Talagang papatayin kita," he said firmly.
"Talagang sabi ko, huwag ninyo akong lokohin. Kaya sabi ko, the first thing that I would do is to deprive you of the supervisory powers over the police. Second is I will -- tanggalin ko lahat ng security mo," he said, threatening the narco-mayors.
He noted that towns who have been in the shabu-business would only reflect on its mayor. He even gave Albuera Mayor, Rolando Espinosa, who got killed in his detention cell in Baybay Provincial Jail as an example.
"Itong si Albuera, eh namatay siya in a very... Eh wala akong pakialam. Ang sabi ng pulis lumaban, and then I will stick with the story of the police because the police is under me," he stated.
