Exclusive - Bayani Agbayani Resigns As Board Member of the MTRCB - Pres. Duterte Appoints Rachel Arenas!

Actor-comedian Bayani Agbayani has resigned as a board member of Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

He was first appointed as a board member of the MTRCB on May of 2016 by President Rodrigo Duterte. This came after Bayani voiced his support for the then-Presidential candidate Duterte.

In a report by Abante, the Kapamilya star resigned from the government position after admitting that he felt that he wasn’t the right fit for this job. His resignation has earned him the public’s respect for honestly admitting his short-comings unlike some other unqualified officials whose goal is to further their position in the government.

On January 30, 2017 President Duterte entrusted Rachel Arenas as the new MTRCB chairperson. During her press interview, Arenas described herself as a simple person. She admits that her first week in the MTRCB was exciting and that the job was very challenging.

“Ang dami ng kailangan na pag-aralan, lalo na ‘yung mga programa in the past years. Napakarami po rin naming partners and I have to review each and every Memorandum of Agreement we have with them,” Arenas revealed.

“Siyempre, it’s also getting to know the people behind, how MTRCB has been successful the past years. I haven’t met all of my boards also and I’m looking forward to meet them all during our first board meeting.” she added.

According to Arenas, she discovered that the MTRCB is running along efficiently and without any glaring problems. She said she’s ready fix to any problems that may appear during her term as well as amend certain laws that need to be revised.

“Maganda naman po ‘yung mga nakikita ko and ngayon kung tatanungin niyo ako kung ano ang mga dapat baguhin, wala pa akong nakikita sa ngayon but I’m hoping that in my term, we get to amend what needs to be amended du’n sa ating batas kasi medyo matagal na rin ‘yon na nagawa,” she said.

“Kung merong mga proposal na ipinasa sa Kongreso, pinag-aaralan po namin ‘yon and we want to get a pool of lawyers also para pag-aralan pa para naangkop ‘yon sa panahon ngayon eh matulungan kami ng senado at kongreso,” Arenas added.
