When Dayanara Torres, former Miss Universe and one of Philippine's celebrities back in the 90s, came to the country to be one of the judges in the 65th Miss Universe, the media took every opportunity they have to document her every move.
They reported various updates about her, from the former beauty queen eating pork 'sinigang' to her revelations about why she and actor Aga Muhlach had to break up. Truly, it was evident that the Filipinos still love her, even after years have gone by since she was in the country.
Dayanara Torres first made waves in the country when she was crowned the 1994 Miss Universe in Manila and was immediately launched to stardom when she appeared in several movies, television shows, and product endorsements.
She settled in the country for five years and was a regular on ABS-CBN's noontime variety show 'ASAP Mania,' where she showed off her dancing prowess to the Filipino audiences every Sunday. This led her to be informally dubbed as the 'Dancing Queen.'
Dayanara learned to speak Filipino and was involved in a four-year relationship with Aga Muhlach. She met him when she appeared in the movie 'Basta't Kasama Kita,' where she played Ella, a princess who fell in love with a simple Filipino jeepney driver.
Dayanara appeared in "It's Showtime" hosted by Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, and Anne Curtis, where she was able to dance and showed her moves to her Filipino fans. Vhong introduced her by saying, "Isa sa pinakamagaling na magsayaw si Miss Dayanara talaga."
"Dancing Queen siya!" Vice Ganda claimed, which made Dayanara smile. "Maraming salamat po," she said, her Filipino accent still remarkable. She stepped towards the center and immediately showed her dancing skills.
