Exclusive - Missing Marikina Teacher Returns Home and Posts a Status Update on Facebook: 'Back From the Dead'

The internet went wild when a teacher from APEC Schools Marikina posted a series of cryptic status updates about death and how his own body would be found in the waters of Manila Bay. Paul Anthony Miranda Esguerra went missing on February 5, after he allegedly went to a party.

His friends and family were puzzled as to why he posted such morbid things online. According to them, he doesn’t seem to harbor any emotional troubles at all and he seemed like the kind of guy who had a lot to live for.

They even speculated that Esguerra's account might have been hacked and that it wasn’t really him who posted the disturbing status updates. Some even theorized that the teacher might have been murdered and that the killer was the one responsible for those posts.

Some news sites reported that his family has not announced his disappearance to the mainstream media. On February 12, netizens found out that Esguerra has returned home to his own family and then promptly posted the following status update on Facebook:

He returned home after being missing for about a week. His post, as seen above, was allegedly deleted minutes or hours after. Some concerned netizens took a screenshot of his status, where the teacher even joked that he was now “back from the dead.”

It turned out that Esguerra did that as a sort of social experiment. He was merely testing if his friends and family “genuinely” cared for him. He also stated that he understood if people wanted to “b*tch slap,” “sucker punch,” or even “kill” him.

What do you think about Esguerra's actions? Was it a desperate cry for attention? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below!
