After just one line from Liza in the trailer for 'My Ex and Whys' many fans were already hooked. Once the movie came out, it was expected to be a blockbuster hit.
And as expected, the loveteam of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil did not disappoint. It had a very strong start as the movie crossed the hundred million mark within just three days, announced Star Cinema on Thursday.
The movie is by far LizQuen's most successful premiere as it raked in PHP 31 million on Wednesday. According to Star Cinema, it then earned an additional PHP 69 million from Thursday to Saturday.
'My Ex and Whys' might just be LizQuen's most successful film yet. The film is expected to surpass the overall gross earnings of their past movies 'Just the Way You Are' and 'Everyday I Love You'.
'Just the Way You Are' was released on June 17, 2015, and has made approximately PHP 100 million. On the other hand, 'Everyday I Love You', was released on October 28 of the same year and has made around PHP 99.3 million.
According to a report by ABS-CBN, 'My Ex and Whys' strong start and unwavering run are more on par with KathNiel's 'Barcelona: A Love Untold'. The KathNiel movie directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina made a total of about PHP 321 million, after making PHP 130 million in the span of five days.
'My Ex and Whys', also directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, is a romantic-comedy movie about Cali, a frustrated blogger who creatively made "the bakit list" to release her pent up anger after her ex-boyfriend Gio cheated on her two years ago.
The movie is currently showing in about 300 screens all across the country, according to Star Cinema.
