Exclusive - Scientists Claim That a New Body of Water Will Rise in From This Massive Crack in Africa!

Ready for a new body of water? Experts believe that a rift in Ethiopia, Africa called the 'Afar rift' will turn into a body of water after a million years. This is because the rift is slowly widening with an average of an inch per year. The movement started when the Dabbahu volcano in 2005 created a massive crack which resulted to a fissure of 60 kilometers or 37 miles long, eight meters wide, and about two meters deep. 

Some scientists also claim that they noticed magma starting to rise from the bottom of the fissure which they believed is a forming basalt ocean floor.

As of now, Africa is composed of three major plates namely Arabian, African, and Somalian. They are now slowly moving away one to two centimeters every year from its meeting point known as the Afar Triple junction. When they reach a certain point of being largely distant from each other, the water from the Res Sea and Gulf of Aden will be surging through their in-betweens and a new body of water is expected to be formed. However, scientists estimated the process to be compltetd in 10 million years time.
