We see lots of different things every day but rarely do we get to see something extraordinary.
This is exactly what happened to Facebook user Giulia Singsong Zahar, who shared a story on her page. Her post tells the story of someone who was desperately trying to get flowers for his significant other, only to be offered a wilted piece. He paid the same price that other customers paid — customers who got fresher, more beautiful flowers.
According to Zahar, she was walking when she saw a man in a Wilcon uniform — she figured he was a salesman — who was standing right behind a flower counter, trying to check the flowers and their respective prices.
She guessed that he was looking for the most affordable one that could fit his budget while he kept surveying the prices. Zahar saw that the lady manning the counter gave the man four wilted roses that were priced at 100 pesos.
The man looked at it for a long moment and Zahar figured that he was wondering whether the flowers presented to him were worth the hundred pesos he would have to pay. She noted that this took him around three minutes or so.
The man, Zahar narrated, finally took the lady’s offer and watched as she wrapped the wilted flowers. Zahar noticed that the man was also served last after the lady behind the counter served other customers.

She didn’t acknowledge the man in the Wilcon uniform immediately. After which, Zahar saw the man waiting patiently and this was when she recounted that a series of emotions came flooded her as the scenario unfolded.
Zahar claimed that she was initially disappointed because the lady gave the man wilted, “ready-to-dispose of” flowers that were priced at 100 pesos — the same price that was offered to other customers who received flowers that were in better condition.
Zagar wrote: “Why couldn't he have the right to a new batch of roses? Why couldnt the owner let one customer go and forget for a moment she was trying to make another 100 bucks from wiltered flowers from this customer who only tried make his other one feel special the way every guy tried today?”
She said that, by serving him last, the lady manning the counter showed disrespect to the Wilcon salesman, emphasized by the fact that he seemingly didn't deserve to get the same kind of flowers that other customers received.
Zahar continued, “It was only a 100 bucks, but I saw the hesitation in him. It was all relative. For him it was 100, for others that those Valentine flowers could have been a good 4,000. But his hundred could have been for that bus ride, that jeepney ride, and one meal for the day.”
“Just got me thinking what those who have so little would do for the people they love for jacked up over-priced flowers, another money making scheme day such as Valentines.”
Zahar ended her post with “It could have been Valentines, but for me, it was one gesture of a stranger that gave me a good reminder to appreciate small deeds and simple blessings. Thing is, these stories happen every day, not just on Valentines, we just have to open our eyes.”
