A video going around the Internet and has been causing panic among the netizens as it showed a group of fishermen in Romblon, Romblon who were able to amass a thousand fishes in their net.
It might be good news to the locals of Romblon, especially to the families of the fishermen, but according to them, catching this much fish is very rare. Many might connect this rare sighting with the oarfish appearances in many parts of the country.
Oarfishes are greatly associated with earthquakes as experts believe that these deep-sea fished can sense the seismic movements in the ocean floor, disrupting their habitat, urging them to surface. One of these sighting happened in the province of Surigao and just recently, February 10, 2017, and a 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit the province.
With this, netizens were very concerned with this incident in Romblon especially when the PHIVOLCS or the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology already warned the residents near the West Valley Fault of an anticipated 7.2 magnitude earthquake that might cause great damages to Metro Manila and neighboring cities.
