Exclusive - Unbelievable: Temperature in Benguet Dropped Below 0°C Yesterday for the Very First Time Ever!

The continuous decrease in the temperature up north shows no signs of halting at the moment as Benguet breaks records after the temperature dropped below O°C yesterday according to the statement of the office of Civil Defense Cordilera (OCD-CAR) on Facebook.

For the past week, the weather up in Baguio and Benguet has been particularly chilly. Reports of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that the City of Pines beat record on February 14 Tuesday after hitting 7.3 degrees Celcius.

Following this, Atok, Benguet has also created a huge buzz after farmers discovered a blanket of frost covering portions of their vegetable farm. This was brought about by the sudden decrease in Benguet's temperature going below 0°C.

According to the news released by the page, the temperature in Atok, Benguet on February 15 and 16 were -2°C and -3°C respectively.

These temperatures are unbelievable low considering that the average temperature in Manila is around 31°C as of writing on February 17 in the morning.

Residents and tourists on the north experiencing the cold weather are being advised by the OCD-CAR to wear layers of wind-resistant clothes and to cover as much exposed skin as possible. Wearing hats, mittens and scarves are also suggested.

According to the office, it is best to cover the ears, nose, fingers and toes.

The chilly weather the Philippines is experiencing right now is caused by the northeast monsoon (Amihan) bringing the cold wind of Siberia and China to the country.
