Last Valentine's Day, comedian Vice Ganda poured his heart out through singing and dancing in the center stage of Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao where he held his concert, "Pusuan Mo si Vice Ganda sa Araneta."
He stunned people with his outrageous performances and stunts in colorful costumes. But what really struck the audience was his emotional spoken word poetry.
According to PEP, Vice expressed his feelings and thoughts on love and life, with reference to his alleged ex-boyfriend Terrence Romeo. Romeo is a GlobalPort Batang Pier basketball player who he has been allegedly involved with.
The comedian surprised his fans and audience when he announced that he recently discovered spoken poetry or the vocal art of reciting poetry with a focus on the aesthetics of wordplay, intonation, and the person’s voice inflection.
He said, "Nahumaling ako sa panonood ng spoken word poetry kung saan nagsasalita kang parang isang makata upang iparamdam ang saloobin."
The comedian then proceeded to recite lines which evoked certain feelings of ‘hugot’ from his past relationship with Romeo.
He didn’t specifically drop the basketball player’s name but he used references such as “three points” and “crossover,” which are basketball terms. It could be remembered that back in 2014, there were speculations that the comedian and Romeo dated.
He posted something about breaking up with his then-unnamed boyfriend and emphasized the initials T and R. Many fans thought that he was referring to Terrence Romeo.
In his spoken poetry performance, he claimed that the relationship was painful because both of them have to hide it from the public. He said that it was due to the fear of being judged (he didn’t emphasize who between them) but stated that his relationship made him happy since they have their own little world where Vice knew they loved each other sincerely.
A few of his lines on the spoken poetry were the following: “Ilang taon din natin iyang tiniis nagtatago na parang gago...”
P*tanginang mundo 'to.
The comedian ended his piece by covering his face and walking out of the stage, extremely emotional. When the press confronted him about his hugot-filled piece, Vice shrugged it off and said, "It was just an act-—one of the many acts I did a while ago."
