The crown was recently passed down from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach to Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere. Now, the search for the next woman to uphold the legacy continues.
Binibining Pilipinas is now searching for the finest women in the country who have what it takes to represent the Philippines in the next round of international pageants.
One of the aspiring candidates is Michelle Marquez Dee, daughter of the former beauty queen and actress, Melanie Marquez.
According to Michelle, she is not closing any doors regarding following in her mother's footsteps who won the Miss International pageant in 1979. For Michelle, Melanie is more than just a beauty queen, but a mother who cherishes and supports her.
“She does a very good job at supporting and being my cornerstone. I hope I don’t disappoint if ever,” Michelle said in an interview with Mario Dumawal.
Meanwhile, Melanie expressed how proud she is of her daughter and boasted: “She’s flawless, natural parang mommy. But she’s a lot smarter than me. [She speaks English] better, at least somebody can stand up for me, for all my mistakes.”
Michelle has been modeling for some time now, even being featured on the cover of many magazines. It started when she was introduced as one of the new models of the homegrown fashion brand "Bench" last year, her first-ever modeling stint.
Currently, she has a website containing her portfolio, contact details and links to all of her social media pages. She has yet to confirm whether she will indeed join this year's Binibining Pilipinas, but she remains open to the idea.
