Exclusive - Boxing vs. MMA: Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Is Reportedly Happening Soon!

The long-awaited fight between undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and multi-division mixed martial arts champion Conor McGregor finally has a date set.

Mayweather and McGregor are their respective sports' biggest attractions, thus making this anticipated bout a war between two bonafide superstars

What started out as a promotional war of words is about to become an actual fist fight, as even UFC President Dana White seems intent on making it happen.

“I do think it’s going to happen. I think it’s going to be a tough deal, there’s obviously a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people so that always makes it tougher," White said.

White's eagerness for the fight to happen is a stark contrast to previous statements he made that claimed the fight was "never [going to] happen."

McGregor was in New York visiting his friend, Michael Conlan, an Olympic boxing medalist. He was interviewed by Lance Pugmire, an L.A. Times reporter, who asked him when the legendary bout would take place.

“(September) is what I’m thinking. That’s what the word is. That’s what we’re close to doing,”  McGregor answered.

However, McGregor and Mayweather have yet to sit down in person and finalize a deal.

When, or rather if, the fight actually does materialize, McGregor was asked if Floyd should be worried at all about him. This is what he said:

“I’ve tried to talk to Floyd. I flew to Las Vegas to have talks with Floyd and then he retired. He just doesn’t want to see me. He’s petrified. Wouldn’t you be? No one knows what to expect with me, and they shouldn’t because I don’t know what to expect either.”
