Exclusive - Man Almost Died at Chinese Airport Waiting for 10 Days for 'Online Girlfriend'

Given the relative ease provided by social media, finding a potential love match online has become almost a matter of clicks and a series of chats. There are now more than a few successful love stories which have been made possible by the internet.

Unfortunately, this method of finding a partner doesn't work for everybody. And that is what this Dutch man figured out the hard way.

Lovestruck, 41-year-old Alexander Pieter Cirk flew all the way from Holland to China just to meet his online girlfriend for two months. A 26-year-old woman with the surname of Zhang lived in Changsha in the Hunan province in South China.

She did not show up. Alexander felt positive, so despite Zhang not showing up, he pushed through. He waited for ten days in the airport. However, due to lack of sleep, poor nutrition and a case of diabetes, he eventually passed out.

Alexander was immediately taken to the hospital due to the incident. According to reports, Zhang was apparently in Zhengzhou during the days of the incident for plastic surgery. Zhang, later on, admitted that she didn't took Alexander seriously when he sent photos of plane tickets going to China.
