A six-year-old boy in Cambodia has an unusual crack across his head which grows larger every week and no one can identify its reason or even its cure.
Wereblog reported that Pheaktra Pov was born with a small crevice on top of his skull. It was surprisingly growing huge every week until his entire head seemed to have been cut across. The crack now runs from his forehead to the back of his head.
His condition was diagnosed by the doctors when his mother, 40-year-old Srey was seven months pregnant with him. The doctors told her that her son had a problem with his head. However when Pheaktra was born, he was only sent home by the doctors without any medical treatment. His doctors gave up on finding the reason and cure for his condition, telling Srey that nothing can be done about it.
It was fortunate that Pheaktra's 67-year-old grandmother did not give up on him. In her desire to help her grandson live a normal life, she wheels Pheaktra everyday around the Angkor Watt Temple to ask people for donations to be used in finding a solution for his head problem.
"Pheaktra was born with a crack in his head and it’s getting bigger all the time. I can put my hand inside the middle, it is very big," his grandmother named Thorn Hong said.
Thorn Hong said that Pheaktra's father abandoned them even before he was born. Doctors refused to help them because of Pheaktra's rare condition. However when he reached five years old, they found out that there is some water present inside his head which makes it swell in size.
"Pheaktra’s father left before he was born so it’s just me and my daughter who take care of him. Doctors do not know what has caused this and they said there is nothing they can do. Until he was five-years-old it seemed like there was water inside his head and it was swelling and getting bigger. I get about $10 to $25 a week from people at the Angkor Watt temple when I go on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday," Thorn added.
Local charities donated medication for Pheaktra but they were only for the prevention of his seizures. However, they do not help with the crack on his head itself.
"The children’s hospital gives us some medicine but it is just to make Pheaktra feel better. We pray every day for somebody in the world that knows how to fix this," Thorn said.
