Exclusive - Here The Things That You Have To Do During An Earthquake!

Because of the reports of consecutive earthquakes hitting the country, we here at TNP have decided to provide you with a list of things that you have to remember when an earthquake hits.

A.)    IF YOU ARE INDOORS WHEN AN EARTHQUAKE STRIKES:

1.)    DROP – COVER – HOLD ON. These are primary actions that should be done when an earthquake hits. Drop to the ground, cover yourself under a steady table or other sturdy furniture and hold on until the quaking stops. If there are no available tables to hide under, use your hands to cover your face and head.

2.)    Avoid staying near glass windows, doors, walls, or any material that could shatter or fall.

3.)    If you are in bed, stay there and cover yourself with your pillow until the shaking stops. If the bed is under an object that could fall on top of you, then immediately move away.

4.)    Stay away from doorways because they do not guarantee protection.

5.)    Do not go outside until the shaking stops. It advisable to stay inside the house while the ground is shaking.

6.)    Never use elevators as they are extremely dangerous while the ground is shaking.

7.)    Rmember that power outages could occur at any time and sprinklers could turn on without warning.

B.)    IF YOU ARE OUTDOORS WHEN AN EARTQUAKE STRIKES:

1.)    Stay calm and do not panic

2.)    Be sure to move yourself away from buildings, streetlights, tall trees or houses that could topple and fall on you.

3.)    Move calmly and cautiously to a more open space.

C.)    IF YOU ARE IN A MOVING VEHICLE WHEN AN EARTHQUAKE STRIKES:

1.)    Immediately stop your vehicle when the ground starts to shake. Make sure that you are not parked near buildings, tall trees, streetlights or overpasses when an earthquake hits.

2.)    Stay inside the vehicle and do not panic.

3.)    As soon as the shaking stops, move to a safer place, avoiding bridges, roads or ramps that might have been damaged by the disaster.

D.)    IF YOU ARE TRAPPED UNDER AN OBJECT WHEN AN EARTHQUAKE STRIKES:

1.)    Do not create fire by lighting a match as you might not know what type of materials surround you.

2.)    Stay calm and do not make any unnecessary movements such as kicking.

3.)    Use a handkerchief or any other cloth to cover your mouth. This will prevent dust and dirt from entering your lungs.

4.)    As much as possible, travel with a whistle. This will help you catch the immediate attention of rescuers. Shouting may cause you to inhale particles that could damage your lungs.
