Exclusive - Magnitude 5.4 Earthquake in Batangas Could Possibly Be a Warning That the 'Big One' Is Almost Here.

Scientists have always warned us about the “Big One”, the strongest earthquake that could ever hit the Philippines. Due to the geographical location of our country, which sits right on the Pacific Ring of Fire, experts say that we could be hit with this catastrophic event anytime soon. The “Big One” happens roughly every 400 years. If you look at history, the last major earthquake occurred in 1658, which was around 357 years ago. According to experts, the fault line that runs across major areas in the Philippines is ripe enough for another major earthquake.

In fact, last February, PHIVOLCS already issued a warning regarding the coming of the “Big One”, which might generate a magnitude 7.2 earthquake over major cities in the Philippines. Metro Manila is said to receive the strongest shock should this earthquake arrive.
