Exclusive - Shocking Story! This Couple Posing for a Photo Died After Hitting the Rocks When Huge Wave Slammed!

Rio de Janeiro is one of the famous tourist spots in the world. It is known for great beaches that are bucket-list-worthy. Just like most people, a couple went to one of the beaches in Rio de Janeiro to enjoy one sunny day. However, what everyone did not expect is for this sunny day turned out to be tragic for the couple. 

Dhi Bertolli Benevides shared a photo of a couple happily spending quality time and posing for photos along the Rocky beach of Rio Das Ostras Blue Coast. The woman was standing on the rock while her partner was staying on the grassy part. Suddenly, the waves grew bigger and the two were taken by the huge waves.  

The one holding the camera started to yell out to their friends to get some help but it was too late as the couple has already been slammed to the rocks and swept into the sea. Regardless if the unfortunate couple knows how to swim, it was impossible for them to handle the huge waves.  

Though Benevides did not identify the couple, in his post, someone said the man’s body was found only after a few days while the woman was rescued but later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. 

According to Benevides, he posted the video for us to beware of nature as we do not know when a place will be safe or not. Like this one, the sea looked calm and peaceful at first but no one expected for the waves to be angry and grow big. Also, they implied that a tsunami may have caused the tragic end of the couple. 

However, a tsunami would require seismic activity and would be much larger; it is most likely that this couple was taken out by a rogue wave.  Rogue waves (also known as monster waves, freak waves, episodic waves or killer waves) are waves that are unpredictably larger than the regular waves seen in the area.  While scientists are still studying how these rogue waves are created it is most likely that they are formed by the combination of smaller waves due to some form of harmonic resonance.
