In our patriarchal society, it has become normal for some men to think that they could get away with anything they do. This involves harassing women and trying to take advantage of them. This is actually the case in the following incident.

An unsuspecting female named Chanah Eeching was attempted to be swindled by someone named ‘Gerald Chan’. According to Chanah, she received an e-mail from this man who claimed to be an Events Management staff of Suria KLCC, a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Gerald allegedly tried to hire Chanah as the ambassadress of their 4th KLCC mall—a seemingly conscientious- job— until he tried to ask her for nudes.

Chanah was suspicious of this guy’s identity and intentions. She said he most likely found her E-mail address from her Instagram account.

“From the first time I saw the E-mail, I felt something wrong with it because it was not under corporate operator. Especially for such big companies like Suria KLCC. However, I replied nicely to find out what he’s trying to get from me so that I can reveal his intention and warn my friends around me,” she said.

Chanah then posted her conversations with the ‘Gerald’ guy online. Unfortunately, Facebook took down her post not long after it went viral. Apparently, Gerald reported her post.

someone named ‘Nicholas Chan’ then contacted her and admitted that he was the real culprit behind the fake messages. He apologized there after.

Nonetheless, Chanah was eager to give him a lesson so she publicized her message again.
