Jenni and her co-worker Guy were shocked when they did not expect that one of her mares would have a strange and unexpected labor.
In November 2014, they were overjoyed when her mare, Daisy, finally give birth to a healthy foal after being 7 days past her due date. Daisy successfully brought her palomino colt named Don Quixote into the world. Although the mare is a bit small to deliver a foal as big as Don Quixote, the little horse was still healthy as he was able to stand independently in a matter of minutes.
They were shocked when Jenni’s dogs suddenly barked uncontrollably. The horse's caretakers went immediately to check what was happening. To their surprise, Jenni felt a pair of small feet inside Daisy. She discovered that another foal was about to be born. It was a critical condition because the little foal was in a breech position. Daisy was also losing her focus in pushing when he saw Don Quixote walking.
Nonetheless, Jenni and Guy were still able to assist the mother and her healthy baby. It is a great miracle for them because a horse giving birth to two foals is incredible rare. It amazed them when they saw the second foal, named Duet, stand up minutes after she was born. This indicates that he is very healthy as well.
“They now spend every day out all day and stay side by side only going to mom for a drink but spending most of their days grazing together and meeting the new foals as much as the new mom would allow. They are both very happy little souls who have brought us such joy over the last few months, both very tame and enjoy human company and will be part of Saratoga forever. We consider them our miracle after a tough couple of years and they will never be for sale,” Jenni said, quotes lifted from Little Things.
