Australian zookeeper and conservationist Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray in 2006, but his wild soul lives on in his son Robert. Today, the boy is celebrating his 14th birthday, and it’s already clear that he’s following in his late father’s footsteps, helping the world to fall in love with nature.
“14 years ago we welcomed you into our lives,” his mom wrote on Twitter. “Your dad would be so proud of the brilliant young man you have become. I love you, Robert.” His big sister Bindi also had something to say: “You are the greatest brother and friend. I’m so lucky to be your sister. Thank you for always making me smile.”
Since a very young age, Robert has been fascinated with the natural world. Now, together with his family, he travels the planet and captures the beauty of the animal kingdom. The talented 14-year-old is sharing his wildlife photography on social media and people are loving his work just as much as his father’s. Robert is Steve’s only son but it’s clear that he’s a true chip off the old block and the perfect guy to continue what his dad has started.
