Following the mention of Sharon Cuneta who allegedly held a concert inside the New Bilibid Prison some time in the year 2012, Kiko Pangilinan immediately defended his megastar wife.
Magleo, a former policeman convicted of kidnapping in 2004,was the one who name-dropped Sharon Cuneta. It was part of his testimony against Sen. Leila De Lima, who claims that De Lima is linked to drugs and it was her fault that the prison was way too lenient holding concerts every now and then. He was one of the 6 witnesses that Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre presented to prove De Lima's connivance.
“During the tenure of then-secretary de Lima, ang maximum security compound ay tinaguriang ‘Little Las Vegas’ and at the same time, 'Wild (Wild) West,''' Magleo said.
“It was called ‘Little Las Vegas’ dahil maraming concerts na nangyayari and [these were] not ordinary concerts. Concert ito ng mga celebrities, mga famous celebrities katulad nila Freddie Aguilar, Sharon Cuneta. The Mocha Girls performed, [as well as] Ethel Booba. I cannot recall the name of the dancers anymore, and several comedienne, celebrities.”
But Pangilinan immediately cleared the name of his wife and posted in his Facebook:
"and On July 10, 2012, Sharon went to the New Bilibid Prison for the taping of her talk show, “Kasama mo Kapatid,” which had an episode featuring the life of inmates. She sang four songs for the closing portion, which is the customary format of the show. She sang “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “Tubig at Langis,” “Kahit Konting Pagtingin,” and “Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko” but only to support RockEd’s outreach program for prisoners.
However, if people who heard the testimony at the House this morning are interested, my wife will have a special concert on October 15 and 22, 8 p.m. at the Theatre at Solaire. We are sure that this concert will be livelier and more enjoyable than the outreach program in Bilibid."
