One can only imagine the extreme highs and lows that Sol Mercado must be going through right now, as the latest rollercoaster of his life is unfolding in front of many people.

4 hours after Sol Mercado and the Barangay Ginebra Kings have achieved their coveted championship, their first eight years, his long-time girlfriend Denise Laurel decides to call off their wedding.

Laurel announced this to their supporters after they constantly tagged her in pictures that celebrated the victory of the Ginebra Kings.

Denise posted on Instagram saying, "I just want to ask all of you for prayers right now and support," Laurel wrote on her account, after several fans tagged her in posts congratulating her boyfriend for his win.

From now on Sol and I are just friends. I am very happy for him! But please don't tag me first on anything that has to do with him. We both tried our best."

Laurel was also quick to clarify any thoughts of the fans about Sol cheating on him, saying that those were matters that they kept to themselves.

“And also please respect Sol he did not cheat on me, he didn’t do anything wrong.

We’ve both been trying for a while now. He’s amazing and brought so much into my life. God has something planned for us both,” she said.

Prior to her sudden revelation on Thursday, Laurel was spotted at Mercado's games against the Meralco Bolts, including the title-clinching nail-biter Wednesday evening.
